A fully tiled pool and landscape, woven around a heritage home
Designed and constructed by Refined Group, and delivered through COVID with our clients overseas the entire time. One of the most complex outdoor projects we have taken on, and one of the most rewarding.
Every part of this project was complex
This Mosman project was a complete pool and landscape transformation, designed and constructed by Refined Group around a beautiful heritage home. Almost nothing about it was standard: a fully tiled swimming pool, strict tree protection conditions dictating where and how we could work, a permeable driveway, complex boundary fencing with the neighbours, and a brief to marry the property’s original heritage sandstone into a clean, modern landscape design.
Even the front gate demanded an engineered solution. Site constraints meant it could not swing inwards or outwards, so we engineered a custom gate that travels on rails, curving away down the side of the property. It is the kind of detail nobody notices when it is done well, and exactly the kind of problem this project asked us to solve over and over again.
Delivered through COVID with the clients overseas
The entire project was delivered during COVID, with our clients overseas for the duration of the build. Every decision, selection and progress update was managed remotely: regular photo and video updates, clear documentation and honest communication meant our clients always knew exactly where their project stood, from the other side of the world.
They returned home to a completed pool and landscape, finished as designed. For clients who cannot be on site, whether overseas or simply busy, this project shows what a design-and-construct team you can trust looks like.
Complex problems, considered solutions
Fully tiled pool
A fully tiled swimming pool interior: the highest standard of pool finish, delivering a depth of colour and quality that pebble and paint simply cannot match.
Engineered rail gate
Site constraints meant the gate could not open inwards or outwards, so we engineered a custom gate on rails that curves away down the side of the property.
Strict tree protection
The landscape was designed and built around strict tree protection conditions, protecting established trees while still delivering the full design.
Heritage sandstone, modern design
Original heritage sandstone retained and married seamlessly into a clean, contemporary landscape. Old and new working together.
Permeable driveway
A fully permeable driveway meeting council stormwater requirements without compromising the look of the frontage.
Complex boundary fencing
Multiple neighbouring boundaries, each with its own conditions, resolved with custom timber batten and black-stained fencing with espaliered greenery.
